MVS Senior Consultant Profile: Leah O'DonnellBackground: Leah came to MVS with a professional background in marketing and an academic background in both business and liberal arts. Before joining the MVS team, Leah worked for Fidelity Investments in their marketing acquisition group and prior to that worked for SoftCoin, Inc, a marketing technology firm focused on branding strategies for consumer goods companies. She earned her bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and her MBA from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Why MVS? "There were three main pulls that drew me to MVS: tremendous exposure
to dynamic clients, a chance to receive a high level of responsibility
early on, and a respect for quality of life issues. MVS brings together
the analytical challenges of consulting with the entrepreneurial dynamism
of a start-up company. No one employee at the company gets pegged into
a single role. One moment I do project work, while in the next I might
be helping close a deal, or developing internal growth strategies for
the company. It's very exciting." A Typical Day 8:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.: Kick off a new consulting project between MVS and a fast growing consumer goods company. The meeting introduces the client, represented by its senior management team, to the MVS project team, and allows for the group to discuss in detail the history of the company's critical challenges and MVS' proposed methodology for addressing them. 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.: Speak on the phone with a client whose project work is ongoing to give them a progress report. 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: Conduct two high-level research interviews on behalf of a client seeking input from their customers and consumers regarding their extended product line. 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Working lunch with coworkers to exchange information and ideas across projects and company practices. 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Review research conducted by other team members on a pricing/market entry strategy project; design rough storyboard for a checkpoint presentation to client next week. 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: Facilitate an internal brainstorming meeting to develop a methodology for addressing an organizational culture issue facing a consumer goods company in light of changing dynamics in their industry. 5:00 p.m. - 6: 30 p.m.: Close out the day with a Partner meeting to
discuss project budgets, address challenges within project teams, and
review resumes for potential new employees. Interested in applying? Click here to learn how. |
